Abraham Membership

The desire for community is natural and often taken for granted. Yet, it remains an essential part of our identity. At the Paarl Hebrew Congregation, we recognize this truth and have pioneered a groundbreaking initiative: the Abraham Membership.

This membership is predicated on the concept of identity. It is not a religious membership, but rather an Identity Membership—a revolutionary innovation in South Africa. We are proud to be the trailblazers in this regard.
The Abraham Membership was created to welcome intermarried couples into our community. It is irrelevant which spouse is Jewish or the status of the children. If your family wishes to be part of a community, we warmly welcome you into ours.

Furthermore, Gentiles who wish to join under this membership are equally welcome. As declared in Isaiah 56:7 in the name of G d: "For My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations."

Through this initiative, we affirm our commitment to inclusivity, identity, and the enduring value of community.
